System Description

Coral IPx Office Installation Manual

Sy

stem Configuration Options IPx Office

6

The main unit cage includes control cards and peripheral cards. 
The expansion cage or cages include peripheral cards.

Main Unit (IPx Office)

The IPx Office unit houses the MBP (Main BackPlane) Office, Main Control Board 
(MCB) Office, the NTU Office card, DataBase Module (DBM-X) card, Software 
Authorization Unit (SAU), LED Office card, and the Main Resources Card (MRC). In 
addition, the main unit houses five peripheral card slots and a power supply slot.

Expansion Unit (IPx Office/EX)

Requires Software Version 15.5 or higher.
The IPx Office unit houses the EBP (Expansion BackPlane) Office card. The front 
section of the unit is empty. In addition, the expansion unit houses five peripheral card 
slots and a power supply slot.

Expansion Cage (IPx 500X)

The expansion cage may house 10 universal peripheral special form-factor cards. 
These card types are described in detail in the 

Coral Service and Peripheral Cards 

Manual

Expansion Cage (IPx 800X)

One IPx 800X cage may house up to 11 universal peripheral cards. Slot 2 through slot 
12 are universal I/O slots, and may house any combination of shared service and 
peripheral Coral cards. Slot 1 is used to house a shared service card or a PX card. See 

PX Card, page 6-48

Expansion Cage (FlexiCom 200 - CSLX)

Requires Software Version 15.5 or higher.
One FlexiCom 200 - CSLX cabinet may house up to six peripheral and shared service 
cards. Slots 1 and 2, are universal I/O slots. Slot 3 is used to house a shared service
