(6) On the double diaphragm type, in addition to the drive diaphragm, a corrugated PTFE
diaphragm is provided at the liquid end. The space between these two diaphragms is
filled with buffer solution (glycerin, purified water or silicone oil), in order to transmit the
reciprocal motions of the drive diaphragm accurately and uniformly to the PTFE
diaphragm (front diaphragm). As a result, the diaphragm’s working life is dramatically
extended.
