The sub-menu ‘Preference page’ can only be called up with the disc stopped.
PBC The display check function (VCD 2.0 only) can be set to ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ . If you
select ‘On’ , the disc menu (if available on the disc) will be displayed on your
television.

Here you can select the language you prefer for menus or synchronised
speech in the sub-menus Audio, Sub-title and Disc. If your chosen language is
not available on the disc, the base language on the disc will be used instead.
Parental Some DVDs may feature child protection which is assigned to the entire disc or
particular scenes on the disc. This function enables you to define a limit for
reproduction. The categories range from 1 to 8 and are country-specific. It is
possible to prevent the playback of particular discs which are unsuitable for
your children, or to allow alternative scenes to be played on discs which include
this facility.
Home-recorded discs, VCD, SVCD and CD discs do not feature this type of
categorisation, and the same rule applies to most illegal DVDs.
      
A few DVDs do not feature categorisation even though the film category is
printed on the disc sleeve. The categorisation function does not work with this
type of disc.

Selecting the ‘Reset’ menu point for the basic settings returns all the settings to
the factory default values, with the exception of your child protection password.
