Application Scenario
Configuring a file
system snapshot
A file system snapshot is a
permanent image of the
N8300 at a specified point in
time. A file system snapshot
generates a fully available copy
of the source file system for
restoring the source LUN data.
If the source LUN data
becomes unusable due to
viruses or maloperation, the
copy of the source file system
is used to restore the source
LUN data by using a rollback.
Configuring
mirroring for the
file system
File system mirroring is a
process of producing mirrors of
one file system on two or more
disks or disk subsystems. When
one mirror becomes faulty,
another mirror still support the
services. In this way, full data
redundancy is achieved.
Configuring
storage tiering
Dynamic Storage Tiering
(DST) allows you to create
predefined storage policies for
storing seldom-accessed data
on inexpensive storage media,
while storing frequently-
accessed (hotspot data) on
high-performance storage
media. You are allowed to
control the data migration rules
by formulating the optimal
storage policy based on the
following factors: data access
frequency, retention period,
and requirements on capacity
or performance. In addition, the
DST lowers maintenance and
management costs while
improving utilization of storage
resources.
