Installation and Connection
The in-line duct fan may be installed only by a quali
fi
ed technician who is
familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)!
Improper work carried out at the mains voltage endangers not only your
life but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not in-
stall it yourself but entrust a quali
fi
ed electrician.
Please refer to the section “Safety Information”!
• The in-line duct fan must be installed and used out of the reach of children.
• The in-line duct fan must be protected by a 10/16A fuse in the building’s fuse box. A
ground fault circuit interrupter must be installed before this (FI protective switch).
• The fan must be voltage-free during installation.
Turn the power off and ensure that all the poles are not carrying a current by remov-
ing the electric circuit’s fuse, or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it against
unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
Next, also switch off the associated ground fault circuit interrupter.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
• Only a cable of type HO3 VV-F3 x 0.75 mm² may be used for the connection.
• Remove the cover on the back of the fan (Figure 1) by
unscrewing the two
fi
xing screws from the cover.
• Stick the mains connection through the round, black
rubber seal and connect it with the 3-poled terminal
block (Figure 2).

Blue wire = N
Green/yellow cable = PE/earth
Make sure only the minimum required length of the
cable is stripped; otherwise it could cause a short-
circuit.
Also check the other screw connections on the termi-
nal strip and tighten them if necessary.
• Put the rubber seal in the corresponding opening; re-
place the cover and screw it in place (Figure 3).
• Next, the power cable must be af
fi
xed to the cover
with the strain relief (Figure 4).
• Place the in-line duct fan in the air duct, making sure
that the air
fl
ow goes in the right direction (pay atten-
tion to the arrow symbol on the housing of the fan).
Place all cables so that they cannot get into the rotor
of the fan.
• Depending on the mounting location of the fan in the
duct, make sure that rotating parts cannot be dis-
turbed.
If necessary, mount suitable protective grilles according to DIN31001.
Depending of the position of the suction opening or the discharge opening, suit-
able grilles to protect against the incursion of moisture are to be mounted (e.g. self-
closing louver grills).
Beyond this, we recommend attaching a suitable
fi
lter in the suction opening in or-
der to keep both the duct and the fan clean. Check the
fi
lter regularly and exchange
it (or clean it) so that the volume of air moved is not reduced.
• Secure the duct fan or the air duct at the mounting location, e.g., with cable ties or
other suitable mounting material.
• Do not turn any screws in the housing of the in-line duct fan, since this can
destroy the rotor function!
In addition, damage to the power cable poses a lethal danger due to electric
shock!
• Screws in the duct can also cause dust, dirt or hair to get caught here, which
over time can block the duct or at least hinder the air
fl
ow.
• Switch on the mains voltage again and make sure that the duct fan is functioning.
Maintenance and Cleaning
• The in-line duct fan does not require maintenance. Repair or maintenance work must
be carried out by a specialist.
• If you determine that no air is moved,
fi
rst check the mains/power supply of the fan.
If this is undamaged, it is possible that the rotor is blocked by sucked-in objects or
dirt/dust/hair.
Turn the power off
fi
rst and ensure that all the poles are not carrying any current by
removing the electric circuit’s fuse, or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it
against unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
Next, also switch off the associated ground fault circuit interrupter.
Then pull the duct away from the fan and check whether the rotor is blocked by a
sucked-in object or dirt/dust/hair and remove the cause of the blockage.
Replace the duct and switch on the power; then check the function of the fan.
If the fan still does not work, have it checked by a specialist.
Disposal
Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory
regulations!
