Safety switch for exhaust hood
Item no. 1423284
Intended use
This product is an aid for increasing the safety in the use of an exhaust fan
unit such as an exhaust hood or a ventilation dryer.
It switches on the exhaust system only when it is ensured that the pressure
can be equalised with the exterior through an open window or an open door.
The monitoring occurs with a magnetic switch that must be mounted on a
window or door so that a pressure equalisation with the exterior is possible.
The monitoring of the fresh air supply by the user of the exhaust fan unit
cannot be replaced with this product but only supported by it.
The product must be connected to an isolated ground socket (230 V/AC,
50 Hz) for operation. The max. connected load (see the chapter “Technical
Data”) must not be exceeded.
Please read the operating instructions carefully and do not discard them. If
you pass the product on to a third party, please hand over these operating
instructions as well. Observe all safety information and other information in
these operating instructions.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product
and involves the risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the
product may be modified or converted!

ments. All names of companies and products are the trademarks of the re-

a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not
permitted for safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not open/disassem-
ble! Contains no customer-serviceable parts.
Maintenance, adjustment or repair work may only be carried out by
an expert/authorised service centre, which is familiar with the hazards
involved and the relevant regulations.
• The product is designed according to protection class I. It must be con-
nected to and operated at an isolated ground mains socket (230 V/AC,
50 Hz) of the public mains only.
Before connecting to the mains, check whether the connection values
on the type plate of the product match those of your home power sup-
ply.
• The outlet to which the safety switch is connected must be located in
direct proximity to the product and be easily accessible. Alternatively,
an all-pole separator for the mains voltage (e.g. a residual-current cir-
cuit breaker) must be present.
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children.
Position the product so it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is equipped with a child safety lock. Only when the prongs
of a power plug are placed in both openings of the socket on the front
side at the same time will the mechanism release the opening.
Nevertheless, take special caution when children are around. Children
cannot recognise the danger arising from the incorrect use of electrical
devices. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• Do not leave the packaging material unattended since this may be-
come a dangerous plaything for children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or
accidental falls, even from a low height.
b) Operating location
• The product may be used in dry, enclosed indoor areas only; it must
not get damp or wet! Never use the product in the direct vicinity of a
bathroom, shower, bathtub or similar. There is a risk of a life-threaten-
ing electric shock!
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sun-
light or strong vibrations.
• Do not operate the device in environments where there are high levels
of dust, flammable gases, vapours or solvents. There is a danger of fire
and explosion!
• Never position and use the product directly next to a heat source.
• The sensor cable must not be pinched or damaged by contact with
sharp edges. Do not place any objects on the sensor cable, and do not
step on it. Protect the sensor cable from heat or cold.
Place the sensor cable so that nobody can trip over it.
c) Handling and use
• Never touch, operate, plug in or unplug the product with damp or wet
hands. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• Never connect the product to the power supply immediately after it
has been transferred from a cold room into a warm one (e.g., during
transport). The condensation that forms might destroy the device.
Moreover, there is danger of electric shock!
Allow the device to reach room temperature before switching it on.
Wait until the condensation has evaporated. This might take several
hours. Only after this should the product be plugged into the power
supply and put into use.
• Do not pull the power plug from the mains socket by pulling on the
cable! Always pull the power plug from the mains socket by gripping
the area provided for this purpose on its sides.
• Never overload the product. Observe the maximum connected load in
the chapter “Technical Data”.
• Do not connect in series! This can lead to overloading of the product!
There is a risk of fire!
Plug the earthed mains plug on the back of the safety switch directly
e.g. into a wall socket.
• Do not operate while it is covered!
• Current-free only when the plug is withdrawn!
• Do not use the product if it is damaged. There is a risk of a life-threat-
ening electric shock!
In this case, dispose of the product in an environmentally correct man-
ner.
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage
- the product does not work at all or works poorly (leaking smoke or a
smell of burning, audible cracking noises, discolouration to the prod-
uct or the adjacent surfaces)
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions
- It was exposed to heavy loads during transport
• Use the product only in a temperate climate and not in a tropical cli-
mate.
• Always unplug the safety switch from the mains socket before clean-
ing it or when the device is not be used for a long time. Also disconnect
the connected device from the safety switch.
