The frequency inverters are equipped with a function that allows the energy supply to the motor (torque)
to be safely (in accordance with SIL 2) switched off with immediate effect.
After the safety circuit is interrupted by a protective device, a stop command is initiated. The restoration
of the safety circuit by the resetting of the protective device interrupts the stop command. As an
additional precaution, a manual reset function (reset) is required.
The safety function corresponds to a start inhibit function in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 and an
uncontrolled stop according to EN 60204-1, stop category 0.
The safety function can be used when the shutdown of the power to prevent an unexpected startup is
required.

The safety function STO is implemented by 2 independent redundant digital input interfaces
(galvanically isolated, reference potential 0V, overvoltage and undervoltage monitoring). It is
recommended to use these inputs for the realization of a STO function according to ISO 61800-5-2.

The output stage is enabled only if STO1+ (20) and STO2+ (22) are connected to 24V ±20% (19,2-28,8 V)
and STO1- (21) and STO2- (23) are connected to GND) otherwise, a hardware shut-down of the PAM and
motor output stage driver takes place immediately.

In circumstances where external influences (e.g. falling loads) are present, further measures (e.g.
mechanical brakes) may be required to prevent hazards.
•
Electronic equipment and contactors do not provide adequate protection against electric shock and
additional galvanic isolation may be required.
WARNING
The 24V outputs are not suited to supply external safety circuits!
If you use an external safety circuit, you must bridge the STO (see connection example).
The STO can be supplied with an external 24 V DC voltage supply.
