Charging instructions for lead-acid batteries (lead-acid battery):
Lead-acid batteries should never be deep discharged, but should always be operated
at the highest possible voltage. Lead-acid batteries that have been deeply discharged
by running them completely „empty“ or by storing them for a long time without char-
ging them (such as over the winter) will cause them to sulfate and damage the cells.
This process is irreversible in many cases and leads to total failure of the battery.
Do not think you are „wasting“ many charge cycles by recharging the lead acid battery
more often even though it is not „drained“ - this is completely wrong! The indicated
service life in charging cycles refers to so-called full cycles. This means that if you
discharge your battery 50% and then fully charge it again, this corresponds to ½ char-
ging cycle. Charging twice accordingly means one full cycle.
We therefore recommend recharging the batteries from a discharge of 25%. But then
always until the charger has fully completed the charging process. This ensures the
highest possible voltage of the cells.
During wintering or long storage of vehicles with lead batteries, it is mandatory to
recharge them at least once a month until the charging process is fully completed.
