2-14     PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

ENGINE OIL FILTER CHANGE

• Drain the engine oil as described in the engine oil replace-

ment procedure.

• Remove the oil filter cap

 by removing its bolts 

1

.

• Remove the spring 

3

 with oil filter 

4

.

• Apply engine oil lightly to the gasket of new oil filter 

5

 before

installation.

• Install the new oil filter 

5

.

• Apply engine oil lightly to the new O-ring 

6

.

• Install the oil filter cap and tighten the bolts.

Oil filter cap bolt: 11 N·m (1.1 kgf-m, 8.0 lbf-ft)

• Add new engine oil and check the oil level as described in the

engine oil level inspection procedure.

Oil change..........    850 ml (0.9/0.7 US/Imp qt)

Filter change......    900 ml (1.0/0.8 US/Imp qt)
Overhaul............. 1 000 ml (1.1/0.9 US/Imp qt)

Make sure that the oil filter installed properly. If the fil-
ter is installed improperly, serious engine damage
may result.

Replace the O-ring with a new one.
