5-5 Installing the Motherboard
Optional Standoffs
Standoffs prevent short circuits by securing space between the motherboard and
the chassis surface. The SC823 chassis includes optional standoffs for motherboard
installation. These standoffs accept the rounded Phillips head screws included in
the SC823 accessories packaging.
To use an optional standoff, you must place the hexagonal screw through the bottom
the chassis and secure the screw with the hexagon nut.
I/O Shield Installation
The I/O shield holds the motherboard ports in place. Install the I/O shield before
installing the motherboard.
Installing the I/O Shield
1. Review the documentation that came with your motherboard. Become familiar
with component placement, requirements, and precautions.
2. With the illustrations facing the outside of the chassis, place the shield into
the space provided on the rear of the chassis.
