H8SMU User’s Manual

1-7 UIO

The H8SMU is a specially-designed motherboard that features Supermicro's UIO

(Universal I/O) technology. UIO motherboards have PCI-Express slots (or UIO

slots on UIO risers) that can support any one of several types of UIO card types

to add SAS ports, additional LAN ports, Infi niband®, etc. to the motherboard. This

allows the user to tailor the motherboard to their own needs.
