Chapter 1: Introduction
Hard Drive Power
Please connect the onboard power cables (four each CBL-0511L and CBL-0485L)
from each node's serverboard to the SATA backplane board in the node tray in
order to provide power to the drives.
Super I/O
The Super I/O provides functions that comply with ACPI (Advanced Confi guration
and Power Interface), which includes support of legacy and ACPI power
management through an SMI or SCI function pin. It also features auto power
management to reduce power consumption.

The following is a general outline of the main features of the F414IS server chassis.
System Power
The F414IS chassis model includes two high-effi ciency 94%+ Platinum certifi ed
redundant 1620 Watt power supplies. In the unlikely event your power supply fails,
replacement is simple and can be accomplished without tools.
SAS/SATA Subsystem
The F414IS supports up to fourteen (14) fi xed SAS/SATA drives for each node
(two (2) 2.5" SATA, four (4) 3.5" SATA and eight (8) 3.5" SAS/SATA hard drives) for
a total of up to fi fty-six (56) drives. These drives are fi xed units and are connected
to three backplanes per node (that provides power and control).

I/O Ports
The F414IS is an proprietary form factor chassis designed to be used in a 4U
rackmount confi guration. The F414IS chassis provides one single low-profi le add-on
card slot, a VGA port, two USB 2.0 ports, one IPMI Ethernet port and two gigabit
Ethernet ports per node.
Cooling System
The F414IS chassis supports external exhaust fans. which provide cooling for the
system. The F517H6-FT server uses eight (8) 8-cm external system fans powered
from the backpane. When one of the motherboard nodes is removed, another
motherboard will continue to operate the fans.
