Chapter 7: BIOS

Multi-Sector Transfers

This item allows the user to specify the number of sectors per block to be used

in multi-sector transfer. The options are

Disabled

, 4 Sectors, 8 Sectors and 16

Sectors.

LBA Mode Control

This item determines whether the Phoenix BIOS will access the IDE Channel 0

Master Device via the LBA mode. The options are Enabled and

Disabled.

32 Bit I/O

This option allows the user to enable or disable the function of 32-bit data transfer.

The options are Enabled and

Disabled

Transfer Mode

This option allows the user to set the transfer mode. The options are

Standard

, Fast

PIO1, Fast PIO2, Fast PIO3, Fast PIO4, FPIO3/DMA1 and FPIO4/DMA2.

Ultra DMA Mode

This option allows the user to select Ultra DMA Mode. The options are

Disabled

Mode 0, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3, Mode 4 and Mode 5.

Serial ATA

This setting allows the user to enable or disable the function of the Serial ATA. The

options are Disabled and

Enabled.

Native Mode Operation

Select the native mode for ATA. The options are Parallel ATA, Serial ATA, Both

and

Auto

SATA Controller Mode

Select

Compatible

to allow the SATA and PATA drives to be automatically detected

and be placed in the Legacy Mode by the BIOS. Select Enhanced to allow the SATA

and PATA drives to be to be automatically detected and be placed in the Native

IDE Mode. (

Note: The Enhanced mode is supported by Windows 2000 OS or

later versions.)

When the SATA Controller Mode is set to "Enhanced", the following items will
