Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation

Replacing Fans

The four 9-cm fans can be replaced with no tools required and without opening the chassis.
This may be done while the system is in the rack or on a bench.

Replacing a Fan

1. Visually inspect the fans to see which one has failed.

2. Push both release tabs on the fan inward.

3. Pull the fan from the chassis. The electrical connections disconnect automatically.

Warning

: The fan blades can cut fingers while spinning or being mishandled.

4. Insert a new fan into the housing, making sure that the orientation matches the other

fans.

Confirm that the fan is working with the system powered on.
