Motherboard Connections

This section describes the connections on the motherboard and provides pinout definitions. 
Note  that  depending  on  how  the  system  is  configured,  not  all  connections  are  required. 

The LEDs on the motherboard are also described here. A motherboard layout indicating 
component locations may be found in Chapter 1.
Please review the safety precautions in Appendix B before installing or removing components.

4.1 Power Connections

Connect a 2-pin power supply cable to JPWR1 to provide power to the motherboard.

4.2 Headers and Connectors

Fan Headers

This motherboard has one fan header (FAN1). IT is a 4-pin fan headers, although pins 1-3 
are backward compatible with traditional 3-pin fans. Four-pin fans allow fan speeds to be 
controlled by Thermal Management in IPMI

.

 When using the Thermal Management setting, 

use all 3-pin fans or all 4-pin fans.
