Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections

4.5 LED Indicators

IPMI LAN LEDs

A dedicated IPMI LAN, supported by the onboard Baseboard Management controller, is
located on the I/O panel. The amber LED on the right blinks to indicate activity. The LED on
the left indicates the speed of the connection.

BMC Heartbeat LED

A BMC Heartbeat LED is located at LED2 on the motherboard. When it is blinking, the BMC
is functioning normally.

Unit ID LED

A rear UID LED indicator (LED4) is located near the UID switch on the I/O panel. If activated,

this LED provides easy identification of a unit that may need service.

Onboard Power LED

The Onboard Power LED is located at LED3 on the motherboard. When this LED is on, the
system is powered on.

Catastrophic Error LED

A CATERR LED is located at LED5. The orange LED indicates the system has experienced
a catastrophic error.

LAN LEDs

Two Ethernet LAN ports (LAN 1, LAN 2) are located on the I/O panel (front or rear). Each

port has two LEDs. One LED indicates activity when flashing amber. The other LED may be

green, amber or off to indicate the speed of the connection.
