5-4 Hard Drives

The chassis features 24 hot-swap storage drives which can be removed from the
chassis without powering down the server. Drives are mounted in the drive carrier
to simplify their installation and removal from the chassis. These carriers also help

promote proper airflow for the drive bays.

Caution:

Except for short periods of time while swapping hard drives, do not operate

the server without hard drives in the hard drive bays.
Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro chassis
and servers. Refer to a list at, http://www.supermicro.com/.

Storage Drive Midplane

The drives plug into a midplane that provides power to the drives and the controller
nodes. It also provides bus termination and node-to-node communication paths.

The midplane is already preconfigured, so no jumper or switch configurations are

required.
