Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections
Chapter 4
Motherboard Connections
This section describes the connections on the motherboard and provides pinout definitions.
Depending on how the system is configured, not all connections are required. The LEDs
on the motherboard are also described here. A motherboard layout indicating component
locations can be found in Chapter 1.
Review the Safety Precautions in Appendix B before installing or removing components.
4.1 Power Connections
Two power connections on the C9X299-PGF must be connected to the power supply. The
wiring is included with the power supply.
•
24-pin Primary ATX Power (JPW1)
•
8-pin Processor Power (JPW2)
•
4-pin Processor Power (JPW3)
Main ATX Power Connector
The primary power connector (JPW1) meets the ATX SSI EPS 12V specification. You must
also connect the 8-pin (JPW2) processor power connector to your power supply. The 4-pin
(JPW3) power connector is optional.
Required Connection
Important:
To provide adequate power to the motherboard, connect the 24-pin, 8-pin,
and
the
4-pin power connectors to the power supply. Failure to do so may void the manufacturer's war-
ranty on your power supply and motherboard.
