Write-Protect
The tape cartridge has a write-protect switch (Figure 3-2) to prevent accidental
erasure of data. This switch can be set prior to or after inserting the tape
cartridge into the tape drive.
•
To write protect a cartridge, move the switch to the left so that a small
rectangle is visible.
•
To write enable a cartridge, move the switch to the right so that the
rectangle is not visible.
If the write-protect switch is changed while the tape cartridge is being written
to by the tape drive, the change does not take effect until the current write
operation completes.
