Preventative Maintenance

BASE WEAR STRIP REPLACEMENT

Front Strut Wear Tubes

Required Tools:

5/32” Allen Wrench

3/16” Punch

Drill with 1/4” Drill Bit

Pop Rivet Gun

T–25 Torx Wrench

Two Sawhorses

Hammer

Replacement Procedure:

Remove the litter from the base (see page 1–21).

Place the base upside down on two sawhorses.

Using a 5/32” Allen wrench, remove the two button head cap screws (item A) and nuts (item B).

Using a drill with a 1/4” bit, drill out the heads of the rivets (item C), being careful not to drill into the tube.
Using a hammer and a 3/16” punch, drive the rivet body into the tube.

Remove and discard the bumper tube (item E). Pop rivet the new bumper tube into place.

Repeat the procedure for the other side, if necessary.

Reassemble the tubes onto the pivots and secure them with the button head cap screws.
