The standard measuring needles should only be used for
soft surfaces and areas that are close to the surface. The
depth measuring sensor, which is available as an optional
accessory, is to be used to conduct measurements deep
in material
1. After selecting the desired type of building material
press the measuring head, in which the measuring
needles are located, into the material to be measured.
2.The measurement is conducted automatically and the
measured value can now be read from the display.
The measured value changes as soon as the measuring
needles are removed. In order to conduct a one-off
measurement the Auto-Hold function must be activated
(see 4.4 Measured value display).
7. Accessories
7.1 Connection and operation with the depth
measuring sensor
When conducting measurements deep in material you
will need the pluggable depth measuring sensor.
1. Drill two 6 mm diameter holes into the material to
be examined.

The distance between the holes should be 50
mm +/- 20 mm, because a deviation of this range of
tolerance can falsify the measured value.

Select an appropriate drilling depth in order to
obtain a clear representation of the situation of the
source of moisture.
4.
Now place the measuring needle adapter onto
the measuring needles on the HPM 3000+ and
measure the desired area with the depth measuring
sensor.
NOTE! After drilling wait around 15 minutes
in order for the degree of moisture that has
evaporated as a result of the drilling heat to reach
its original value again. Otherwise the measured
value results can be falsified.
7.2 Connection and operation of the Ptl00 surface
temperature sensor
The temperature sensor is particularly suitable for
determining the object temperature and for
ascertaining thermal bridges in the measuring range
of -25 °C to 150 °C, or -13 °F to 302 °F.
The surface sensor is connected to the interface of the
HPM 3000+ via a 5 pin connector. The sensor is
recognised by the measuring instrument and
immediately indicates the temperature on the
display.
By pressing the
key the degree of moisture
can also be measured in addtion to the temperature.
You can choose between the units °C and °F under
the menu option.
