Cleaning and care
WARNING!
Before cleaning the appliance:
• Always switch off and unplug the appliance from the power supply. There is a
risk of electric shock.
• Always allow the appliance to cool down. There is a risk of scalding.
Other Useful Information
• Housing
: If the housing requires cleaning, wipe it with a soft, dry or slightly
damp cloth and a mild, non-aggressive cleaning agent, if required.
CAUTION!
Never use harsh cleansers. These can damage the surfaces.
• Steam holes:
Please follow points 1–8 from the "First use" instructions (page
13) for cleaning the steam holes. If further cleaning is required, remove any
remaining build-up using a cotton wool tip moistened with methylated spirits.
Scale removal
Should the steam output diminish over a period of time, you may need to clean off
any mineral deposits (limescale) left by water inside the appliance. The build-up
of limescale is a normal occurrence caused by the mineral content of tap water.
Unless you only use demineralised or distilled water in your garment steamer, we
recommend you descale the appliance once a month, or as required depending
on the water hardness in your area and your frequency of use. If scaling is a
problem in your area, you will have to descale it more frequently, but even in soft
water areas is regular descaling important to keep the garment steamer operating
efficiently.
• Set up the garment steamer near a sink. (Alternatively, keep a bucket close by.)
• Prepare your descaling solution (e.g., 1 part white vinegar, 3 parts water) and
carefully pour it into the appliance's water tank.
• Plug in the appliance and set the steam control to the "Clean" position.
• Take the steam head off the main unit and hold it over a sink (bucket).
• Press down and hold the steam trigger button. As the appliance starts the
automatic cleaning cycle, hot water, steam and scale particles will be flushed out
of the steam holes at the bottom of the steam head.
• When there is no more descaling solution left in the tank, repeat the automatic
cleaning cycle using clear (distilled, demineralised or filtered) water. If required,
repeat this cleaning process again until the water coming out of the steam holes
is completely clean.
