► If self-propulsion does not engage:

The clutch lever is defective.
Main switch
► Start the engine.
► Set the main switch to the 0 position.
The engine cuts out.
► If the engine does not cut out:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The main switch is defective.
Throttle lever
► Start the engine.
► Move the throttle lever.
The engine speed changes.
► If the engine speed does not change:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The throttle lever is defective.
Gear lever
► Engage 0, 1st, 2nd and reverse gear.
► If one of the gears cannot be engaged:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The gear lever is defective.
11 Working with the Cultivator
11.1
Placing the Front Wheel in the
Operating Position
► Detach retaining pin (1) and remove pin (2).
► Fold up front wheel (3) so bores (4) align.
► Insert pin (2) through bores (4).
► Push retaining pin (1) through the bore in
pin (2).
Pin (2) is secured and front wheel (3) is in the
operating position.
11.2
Holding and Guiding the Tiller
► Hold the tiller with both hands on handles (1)
so the thumbs enclose the handles.
11.3
Loosening Firm Soil or Working
Soil Additives into Loose Soil
► Place the front wheel in the operating position.
► Start the engine.
► Guide the tiller forwards and regulate the
working speed and working depth using the
blade spur.
► Move forwards slowly and in a controlled man‐
ner.
► If the hoes become blocked:
► Engage reverse gear.
► Guide the tiller slowly backwards until the
hoes free themselves.
► Set the gear.
► Move forwards slowly and in a controlled
manner.

Tilling Loose Soil
► Place the front wheel in the operating position.
► Start the engine.
