N
Carry out the standard setting.
N
Warm up the engine for
about 1 minute at full throttle, then
return to idling speed.
N
Turn the high speed screw (H) a 1/2
turn counterclockwise.
N
Open the throttle wide and turn the
high speed screw (H) slowly
clockwise until the maximum
permissible engine speed of
12,500 rpm is reached.
NOTICE
Turning the high speed screw any
further clockwise makes the fuel-air
mixture too lean – risk of engine
damage.
If maximum engine speed and full power
cannot be achieved, ask your servicing
dealer for assistance. STIHL
recommends a STIHL servicing dealer.
Adjusting Idle Speed
After every correction to the low speed
screw (L):
–
It may be necessary to change the
setting of the idle speed screw (LA).
–
It may be necessary to change the
setting of the high speed screw (H).
N
Warm up the engine.
Engine stops while idling
N
Carry out standard setting on low
speed screw (L).
N
Turn the idle speed screw (LA)
slowly clockwise until the engine
runs smoothly – the cutting
attachment must not turn.
Cutting attachment rotates when engine
is idling
N
Turn the idle speed screw (LA)
counterclockwise until the cutting
attachment stops moving and then
rotate the screw another 1/4 to 1/2
turn in the same direction.
WARNING
If the cutting attachment continues to run
when the engine is idling, have your
machine checked and repaired by your
servicing dealer.
Erratic idling behavior, poor
acceleration, engine stops even though
setting of LA
-
screw has been corrected
Idle setting is too lean:
N
Carry out standard setting on low
speed screw (L).
N
Turn the low speed screw (L)
counterclockwise until the engine
runs and accelerates smoothly.
Erratic idle speed, exhaust smokes at
idle speed
Idle setting is too rich
N
Turn the low speed screw (L)
clockwise until the engine speed
drops – then turn it back a 1/4 turn,
open the throttle and check that the
engine accelerates smoothly.
