Starting

:

Place the unit on a patch of clear 
ground. It must rest securely on the 
engine support and the deflector. 
Check that the blades are not 
touching the ground or any other 
obstacles.

:

Make sure you have a firm footing.

:

Press the unit firmly against the 
ground with your left hand. Your 
thumb should be under the housing.
Do not stand or kneel on the drive 
tube!

The starting procedure is now as 
described in the CombiEngine 
instruction manual.

To shut down the engine:

Move the slide control in direction of 

arrow ( 

h

 ) to  

STOP

 – 

$

 

Use STIHL gear lubricant for brush-
cutters* for lubricating the gearbox.

:

Check grease level regularly – 
about every 50 hours of operation.

:

Unscrew the filler plug 

(1)

.

:

If no grease is visible on the inside 
of the filler plug, screw the tube of 
grease 

(2)

 into the filler hole.

:

Squeeze up to 1/5 oz (5 g) grease 
into the gear housing.
Do not completely fill the gear 
housing with grease. 

:

Refit the filler plug and tighten it 
down firmly.
