Pull the drive shaft (1) out of the
outer drive tube.

Loosen the screws (1 and 2).

Pull off the clamp (3).
:
Pull out the drive tube (4) at the
engine end.

Take the springs (1) and the
bearings (2) out of the outer drive
tube (3).

– Check the condition of the
bearings and clean or replace as
necessary.
:
Remove the blind rivet (1) and
pull off the bearing (2).

The holes in the bearing (2) and
drive tube (3) must be in
alignment.
:
Secure the bearing (2) with an
original STIHL blind rivet (1)

Installing:
Check the following components
before installing the telescopic drive
tube:
– Check the drive tubes for
distortion and damage, replace if
necessary.
– Check square end of drive shafts
for damage and replace if
necessary.
At the engine end of the drive
tube (as marked):
:
Push the bearings (2), ball
bearing end first, and springs (1)
into the outer drive tube (3).
If the drive tube is new or there is

no mark, determine the engine
end of the drive tube.
Looking through the outer drive tube
(1) from the engine end, the rivet (a)
must be at the top and the guides
(b and c) on the right.
