Operating Instructions Artec
10
3.2 O
2
– Ratiosystem (optional)
The Gasmixing units GME 3 and GME 4 can be equipped optionally with a pneumatical
system to assure at every flowrange of N
2
O a minimum concentration of oxygen of 25 %
O
2
(+/- 5%).
The so called O
2
- Ratiosystem avoids the delivery of pure N
2
O to the breathing system.
Mode of operation
The O
2
– Ratiosystem examines the O
2
– Flowrate. If there is no O
2
– Flow the N
2
O – Line
is blocked. Thus it is impossible to apply pure N
2
O to the breathing system without opening
the O
2
– Valve at the GME. Only when the O
2
– Valve is opened counterclockwise, a N
2
O
– flow according the flowrate of O
2
can be adjusted. The minimal achievable oxygen
concentration is 25 % +/- 5%.
Control of function
1. Close
O
2
– and N
2
O – Valve at the GME.
2. Open
N
2
O – Valve to maximum
There should be no N
2
O – Flow
3. Open
O
2
– Valve counterclockwise
N
2
O – Flow is increasing
For example:
Adjust 1 l/min O
2
N
2
O – Flow should be 3 l/min +/- 0,2 l/min
Adjust 3 l/min O
2
N
2
O – Flow should be 9 l/min +/- 0,6 l/min
Caution
The O
2
– Ratiosystem controls the O
2
– concentration in the freshgas.
It doesent prevent in any case a hypoxic gasmixture in the circlesystem.
Caution
Please do control the inspiratory O
2
– concentration by using an
oxygenmonitor.
