FIREPLACE REQUIREMENTS

The Images Gas Log Set must only be installed in a fully vented, non-combustible fireplace with an open damper.
The chimney must be free of any obstructions.  The fireplace must be designed and approved to burn wood.

The fireplace must have a gas supply line that has been installed by a qualified technician in accordance with all
local codes.  It must be 1/2” minimum interior diameter.  If the gas line to the fireplace is longer than 20 feet, a lar-
ger-diameter line may be necessary.

Be sure to clean the fireplace floor of any ashes or foreign materials.  It is recommended that the fireplace and
chimney be inspected by a qualified technician before you install the gas log set.

Required Gas Pressure:

Minimum inlet gas supply pressure must be 5” water column for natural gas and 11” water column for LP gas.

Maximum inlet gas supply pressure must not exceed 10” water column for natural gas and 14” water column for LP
gas.

Testing The Gas Supply System:

The gas log set and its individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system while per-
forming any tests of the piping system at pressures in excess of 1/2 PPSI. The gas log set must be isolated from
the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas
supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 PPSI. A fireplace screen must be in place when
the gas log set is burning.

When glass fireplace doors are used, operate the gas log set with the doors open.

4  -  FIREPLACE REQUIREMENTS

Page 6



This log set is designed to be used only in a functioning fireplace that is designed and approved to burn wood.



Remove the existing fireplace grate and discard.



Have your fireplace cleaned and inspected by a qualified technician to ensure the chimney flue has no obstruc-
tion and has proper ventilation.



If there’s not already one present, a gas line must be run into the firebox to be connected up to the Images Gas
Log Set.  This must be done by a licensed plumber or qualified technician and in accordance with the gas pres-
sure specifications noted below.



If desired, a 110VAC electrical line may be run into the firebox to replace the cord.  This must be done by a
qualified electrician.



When this log set is burning, the fireplace damper MUST BE fully open.  The minimum opening area of the
vent system MUST BE at least 8” in diameter.  A damper clip has been provided with the gas log set.  The
damper clip must be installed on the blade of the fireplace damper to prevent full closure of the flue and pro-
vide a minimum flue opening.  If the clip does not provide the required permanent opening of the damper, have
the damper blade cut to provide a minimum permanent opening or install a permanent stop.  See DAMPER
CLAMP INSTALLATION on page 7.

 5  -  PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

Verify that the Images Log Set will fit properly in your firebox application and that you have all standard and op-
tional parts needed to complete the installation.

Minimum firebox dimensions needed are:



Front Width—31”



Back Width—19”



Depth—15”



Height—17”
