Connect the rugged enclosure
The rugged enclosure comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable.
When you connect the rugged enclosure, make sure that you use the cable that’s
appropriate for your computer.
1. Install a drive in the rugged enclosure. For more information about how to do this,
see the “Install a drive” topic.
2. Connect one of the provided USB cables to the USB Type-C port on the rugged
enclosure and to the USB port on your computer.
3. When you connect the rugged enclosure to your computer and the OS
automatically installs the necessary software, the drive is accessible as though it’s
installed internally in the system. Before you use the drive, you need to prepare it for
use. For more information, see the “Prepare a drive for use” topic.
Note:
The rugged enclosure doesn’t require an external power supply, as it receives
enough power through the USB bus that it’s connected to. When the computer is
turned off, the drive will stop working.
