Installing the Mini Adapter Card
Warning!
Mini Adapter Cards, like all computer equipment,
can be severely damaged by static electricity. Be sure that
you are properly grounded before opening your computer
case or touching the Mini Adapter Card. StarTech.com recom-
mends that you wear an anti-static strap when installing any
computer component. If an anti-static strap is unavailable,
discharge yourself of any static electricity build-up by touch-
ing a large grounded metal surface (such as the computer
case) for several seconds. Handle the Mini Adapter Card by its
edges and not the gold connectors.
1.
Turn off the
Host
Computer
and disconnect any
Peripheral
Devices
that are connected (e.g. printer, external hard drives,
etc.).
2.
Unplug the
Power Cable
from the back of the
Host
Computer
.
3.
Remove the
Cover
from the
Host Computer’s Case
.
Note:
Consult the documentation that came with the
Host
Computer
for details about how to remove the
Cover
safely.
4.
Align the
PCIe Connector Gap
on the
Mini Adapter Card
with the notch on the
Mini PCI Express slot
on the
Host
Computer’s Mother Board
.
5.
Gently insert the
Mini Adapter Card
(mini card) into a
Mini
PCI Express Slot
on the
Host Computer’s Mother Board
.
6.
Securely fasten the
Mini Adapter Card
to the
Host
Computer’s Motherboard
.
