9 . Press and hold the pendant advance button again to
recheck the relief valve pressure setting . Verify that the
desired pressure is indicated on the LCD screen .
Note:
If readjustment is necessary: To obtain an accurate setting,
always decrease the pressure to a point below the final setting
and then slowly increase the pressure until the final setting is
reached .
10 . After the desired pressure setting has been obtained, tighten
the relief valve locking nut .
2.2 ZU4 Classic Electric Pumps and ZA4 Air Torque
Wrench Pumps (equipped with pressure gauge)
1 . Disconnect all hydraulic hoses from couplers on valve .
2 . Loosen the relief valve locking nut . See Figure 8.
3 . Rotate relief valve handle counter-clockwise as required,
until there is little or no resistance when turning . When this
occurs, the valve is at its lowest setting .
Note:
Relief valve handle will rotate only about two-thirds of a full
turn . When rotation stops, pull up on handle to disengage . Then,
reposition and re-engage handle to allow additional adjustment
(as required) .
WARNING:
On (-Q) and (-QM) pumps, ensure all
couplers have the protective caps fully installed before
starting pump .
3 . Press and release the advance button on the pendant . The
pump will start (refer to pump instruction sheet for complete
operating instructions) .
4 . After releasing the advance button, check the retract
pressure on the pressure gauge or LCD screen .
Refer to Table 1 for the retract (B-Port) pressure setting
applicable to your valve model .
WARNING:
On (-Q) and (-QM) pumps, ensure all
couplers have the protective caps fully installed before
starting pump .
4 . ZA4 air models only: Connect air supply to pump .
5 . ZU4 Classic electric models only: Move the pump on-off
switch to ON .
6 . Press and hold the pendant “ON/ADV” button . Motor will
start and pressure will begin building in the advance (A-Port)
circuit .
7 . While continuing to hold down the pendant “ON/ADV”
button, SLOWLY rotate relief valve handle clockwise, to
increase pressure, or counter-clockwise to reduce pressure
(as required) .
Note:
To obtain an accurate setting, always decrease the
pressure to a point below the final setting and then slowly
increase the pressure until the final setting is reached .
8 . Release the “ON/ADV” button to allow the system pressure
to return to the B-port retract setting . The motor will continue
to run .
9 . Press and hold the “ON/ADV” button again to recheck the
relief valve pressure setting . Verify that the desired pressure
is indicated on the gauge .
10 . After the desired pressure setting has been obtained, tighten
the relief valve locking nut .
3.0 ADJUSTING THE B-PORT RELIEF VALVE
(Retract Pressure Setting)
A separate relief valve limits the maximum B-Port retract
pressure . See Figure 9 .
Check the retract pressure as described in steps 1 through 4 of
this section . If it is not within allowable limits, make adjustments
as described in steps 5a through 5e .
1 . Set the main relief valve (A-Port) pressure to the desired
setting as described in Section 2 .1 or 2 .2 (as applicable) .
2 . Be sure that all hydraulic hoses are disconnected from
couplers on valve .
Figure 9, B-Port Relief Valve Adjustment (typical)
5 . If the retract pressure reading is not within the allowable
range listed in Table 1, follow steps a through e:
IMPORTANT:
The B-Port relief valve should be adjusted only by
qualified hydraulic service personnel .
a . Remove acorn nut using a 9/16" socket wrench . This will
expose the adjustment set screw . See Figure 9 .
b . Remove copper gasket and loosen jam nut .
c . Using a 5/32" Allen wrench, turn the adjustment set screw
clockwise to increase pressure or counter-clockwise to
reduce pressure (as required) .
d . To secure the setting, torque jam nut to 5-6 ft-lbs [6-8
Nm] while holding the adjustment set screw in place with
a 5/32" Allen wrench .
e . Reinstall copper gasket and acorn nut and torque to
5-6 ft-lbs [7-8 Nm] using a 9/16" socket wrench . (Do
not overtighten as threads will strip out) . Verify pressure
setting and readjust if necessary .
