Safety Instructions

The most important safety instructions are summarised in this 
section. They supplement the corresponding regulations which 
the personnel in charge must study. When working in hazardous 
areas, safety of the personnel and plant depends on complying 
with all relevant safety regulations. Assembly and maintenance 
staff working on installations therefore have particular 
responsibility. 
A precise knowledge of the applicable standards and regulations 
is required.

characteristic values of the type labels and the instruction

the EC Type Examination Certificate (according to ATEX) or 
conformity or partial certificate (after previous approval) and 
special conditions contained in it

that any damage may render explosion protection null and 
void.

that for use in Zone 1 or 2 the DOMV must be installed into 
an enclosure certified acc. to IEC/EN 60079-0 and for use in 
Zone 21 or 22 into a enclosure certified acc. to 
IEC/EN 61241-1

that for installation into an enclosure a suitable pressure 
release device must be provided (e.g. screw-in silencer by 
Legris)

that the DOMV must not be used outdoors

that the DOMV must be operated only in an IS1 system and 
must be connected via the BusRail

that a controlled restart of the process is ensured after the 
electric or pneumatic supply has been interrupted

that no electrostatic discharges occur at the component

Characteristics"). Incorrect and impermissible use or non-
compliance with this document invalidates our warranty 
provision.
No modifications or alterations to the components, impairing their 
explosion protection, are permitted. 
The components are to be fitted only if they are undamaged and 
clean.

Function/Characteristics

The digital output module with valve (DOMV) is a system 
component of the Remote I/O system IS1 for actuation of 
pneumatic control circuits. The module is snapped directly onto 
the BusRail of the IS1 system and connected via BusRail to the 
power supply and the internal data and address bus.
The DOMV is an intrinsically safe equipment with degree of 
protection Ex ib for installation in hazardous areas of Zone 1.
The output circuits are implemented as pneumatic control 
circuits.
The modules are equipped with an additional Ex i digital input for 
simultaneous disconnection of all module outputs ("Outputs 
OFF"). It complies with the requirements of the functional safety 
according to IEC 61508 up to SIL2.
