Function and device design
4.1
Function
The transmitter supply unit is used for intrinsically safe operation of 2- and 3-wire
transmitters or for connection to intrinsically safe mA sources. The 2- and 3-wire
transmitters are supplied with auxiliary power by the transmitter supply unit.
The device transmits a superimposed HART communication signal bidirectionally.
The device Type 9160/13-1*-13 can be used up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and the remaining
devices of Series 9160 Rev. F up to SIL 2.
