when ASC is active. This function can be disconnected by turning the switch clockwise. In this case
the squelch adjustment becomes manual again. disappears from LCD.
b) MANUAL SQUELCH
Turn the SQ knob ( 2 ) clockwise to the exact point where all background noise disappears. This
adjustment should be done with precision as, if set to maximum (fully clockwise), only the strong-
est signals will be received.
3) VOX GAIN
VOX is an automatic, phonetic transmission/reception switching function.
The activated VOX function permits hands-free transmission. There is no need to press the
transmit key on the microphone when VOX is functioning.
Position the microphone at a maximum distance of 40 to 50 cm and avoid loud environmental
noises for preventing unintended emissions.
The VOX function is switched on and off through a long keystroke (> 3 sec.) on the EMG/VOX
key. When VOX is switched on, the display shows VOX .
Turn the front plate knob VOX GAIN to adjust the response sensitivity of the VOX. The maximum
VOX response sensitivity is obtained when the knob is set to the rightmost position.
The setting of response sensitivity depends on your voice volume, microphone positioning and
environmental noises.
VOX-icon fl ashing: Squelch or ASC are open and VOX is blocked (RX impossible).
VOX-icon and Channel-Display fl ashing: at blocked VOX TX is impossible.
VOX is activated again after approx. one second after having closed the squelch or ASC.
Thus, unintended emissions through the receive signal are avoided.
The activated VOX is only able to transmit when squelch or ASC are activated.
4) ROTARY KNOB
Turn the ROTARY knob ( 4 ) to adjust channel. Clockwise to increase , counterclockwise to decrease
the channel.
