NOTICE:
The laterals may get damaged if gravel is
poured too fast or recklessly.
3. Pour sand into filter tank. See Page 4 for correct type
and quantity of sand to use.
5. Lid Installation
–
See Figures 5A, 5B, 5C
1. Install the O-Ring on the lid flange; make sure
O-Ring is clean, dry, and has no nicks, tears, or
scrapes.
2. Make sure the tank and lid flanges are clean.
3. Inspect the plastic air-bleed line, and make sure the
air filter is mounted on the tube end.
4. Turn the clamp dogs on the lid sideways so they do
not extend over the edge.
5. Hold the lid and lower it through the tank opening.
6. Turn and lift the lid to bring it into position. The air
bleed filter should be located within the lid.
7. Back off the knobs on the lid but do not remove
them.
8. Turn the clamp dogs so they extend over the edge
of the opening.
9. Tighten the clamp dogs evenly by turning the knobs
clockwise .
10. Install the pressure gauge in the lid.
NOTICE
: Do not attach a hose to the lid pressure
relief fitting.
STARTUP/OPERATION
Hazardous pressure. To avoid explosion
and possible severe or fatal injury, filter system pressure
must not exceed 50 PSI (345 kPa) under any circum-
stances. NEVER test this filter system with compressed
air; never operate system with water temperature above
104° F (40° C).
To prevent equipment damage and possible
injury, turn pump OFF before changing valve position.
NOTICE:
Do not add chemicals directly into the pool
skimmer. Adding undiluted chemicals may damage
equipment and void warranty.
Slide Valve Settings
1. Open system valves and make sure pump is filled with
water. Make sure pool water level is 2” (51mm) above
bottom of skimmer opening.
2. With pump OFF, set valve to
‘BACKWASH’
position.
3. Open the Air Vent Stem (Key No. 2, Page 11 or 13)
and start pump, circulating water backwards through
filter to waste. Do not close the Air Vent Stem until a
steady stream of water runs out of the Air Vent port;
then close the vent.
NOTICE:
To prevent pump from running dry, be sure
water level never drops below bottom of skimmer
inlet. Add water to pool if necessary to keep skimmer
flooded while backwashing and rinsing.
