3. General training notes
•
Consult your doctor before commencing training, particularly if you have any pre-existing medical
conditions such as diabetes, spinal complaints or heart problems, but also if you are new to exercising or
have not been active for a prolonged period.

We recommend that you warm up before each workout to help prevent muscle and tendon injuries.
Make sure that you carry out each exercise correctly, in a slow and controlled manner. Always breathe
evenly and never hold your breath. Exhale as you perform the strenuous part of the exercise, and inhale
as you return to the resting position.

The exercises in this manual are by no means an exhaustive list but rather a selection of different forms
and variations

The intensity and complexity of the workouts should correspond to your fitness level. If in doubt, consult
an experienced and qualified professional for advice (e.g. a member of staff in your gym)

The number of sets and repetitions will depend on your personal objective and fitness level. Three sets
of 8–12 properly performed reps per exercise would generally be considered quite good. Don’t forget to
allow sufficient recovery time. Please also consult a professional for a training plan tailored to your
individual needs

Stop your workout immediately if you experience any pain. If necessary, reduce the weight, resistance,
difficulty level, repetitions and/or the number of exercises, and ensure you are executing them correctly.
