PROVISIONING THE UNIT
NOTE: A unit must be provisioned before it can begin testing. Provisioning is a one-time procedure
that can be performed anywhere with internet access. If you are installing a unit that has already
been provisioned, this information is not applicable.
Remove power from the unit, if connected.
Insert the USB flash drive that contains the provisioning (“config”) files.
This flash drive must be prepared according to procedures described in the
Spirent Epitiro
User/Admin Guide
. It is not included in the box. Refer to the
User/Admin Guide
for comprehensive
information on config file generation and overall system administration.
Reapply power to turn up the unit.
Observe that the red power LED illuminates.
Wait 15 minutes.
The unit will not provide any visible indication of provisioning status. To ensure that provisioning was
successful, you can:
Observe (or have someone else observe) when the probe appears in the Probes tab of the Admin
interface.
-or-
Through a USB hub, connect a USB mouse, keyboard, and monitor to the unit. Once connected, you
can use the Android operating system directly to monitor system status. Note that:
Direct operation of the probe is complex and requires advanced skills. Please contact Spirent for
additional documentation on this topic.
No USB peripherals are provided with the unit.
After the unit is successfully provisioned, remove the USB drive for reuse with the next unit.
UNIT TURNUP
If the unit is already provisioned, turnup only requires the power connection. When the red LED illuminates, the unit is running. However, if the unit is not provisioned,
you should skip this step and continue to the provisioning procedures.
