1
Watch misses a lot of
laps
SETUP problem. The most
common fault for this is the watch
is set up for the wrong hand.
Change the hand setting in the
SETUP menu.
2
Watch misses laps
The swimmer may take quicker
turns than average. Quick turns
result in a short glide period, the
watch may not have enough time
to register the change of lap.
NOTE: This may happen slightly
more with breaststroke swimming.
Try gliding a little longer at the start of
each lap, this will give the watch a
little longer to register the change of
lap. Just a second will probably be all
that s required.
3
Watch misses laps
Try wearing the watch on your
other arm, this may be more
regular or when swimming crawl
may spend more time in the glide
position when changing lap.
Change the hand setting in the
SETUP menu and wear watch on
other arm.
4
Watch misses laps
Pool length may be too short (the
watch needs 6 or 7 regular
strokes on the arm you wear the
watch on, before it knows you are
swimming).
Use a longer pool, an 18 metre pool is
usually sufficient for most swimmers
but those with a long distance per
stroke may need a longer pool.
5
Watch misses laps
Alternating between single laps of
crawl and breaststroke may
produce inaccurate lap counts in
some swimmers.
Try gliding a little longer at the start of
each lap, this will give the watch a
little longer to register the change of
lap. Just a second will probably be all
that s required.
6
Watch counts an extra
lap or two
Hesitating, interrupting stroke
rhythm or changing stroke type
mid lap.
Refrain from changing stroke mid lap,
be aware that if you stop behind
another swimmer in the middle of a
lap or interrupt the stroking pattern the
watch may count an extra lap.
