Make sure pump turns freely, especially after extended periods of downtime.
To do this put a screwdriver into the slot at the fan end and turn by hand in the
direction of rotation (see directional arrow). If necessary remove fan cover and
turn the fan by hand. Make sure the mechanical seal doesn’t leak.
6.3
Concerning pumps with three-phase current please make sure that the motor
turns in the correct direction according to the arrow denoting the motor direction
before starting (viewed from the fan side: clockwise). If this is not the case,
please contact an electrician! (Exchanging two phases).
6.4
Please make sure that the installed shutoff valves in the suction and pressure
lines are completely open, since the pump must never be allowed to run with
shutoff valves closed!
7. Maintenance / Repair
7.1
Whenever the pump is shut down by the motor cut-out switch or by the
overload protection switch the pump must be checked for unobstructed and
easy rotation before re-starting. To do so turn the motor shaft at the fan side
with a screwdriver or similar tool. Remove tool, reactivate the motor cut-out
switch or the overload protection switch, respectively. If turning the motor shaft
requires considerable force, the pump must be checked by an expert. As soon
as the motor has cooled down the thermal security in the windings will reactiva-
te itself, respectively the motor overload switch can be pressed down. The but-
ton of the motor cut-out switch or the overload protection switch, respectively,
may only be pressed once more after several minutes. Please check power
input. After another shut-down, the cause of malfunction is to be determined by
an expert (e.g. blocking of the pump due to impurities, like sand from bottom
cleaning). Control current supply and fuses!
7.2
If the pump seizes, it has to be cleaned. Repeated starting of a blocked pump
may cause damage to the motor. In that case any guarantee is voided.
