Connection and start-up
a) Setup and connection
• Connect the HDMI input (1), using a suitable HDMI-capable cable, to the HDMI output of a
play-back device, e.g. a Blu-ray player, a game console, etc.
• If the HDMI signal needs to be looped through (e.g. to a television), connect the HDMI output
(8) to the HDMI input of your television.
• The 3.5 mm stereo socket provides the analogue stereo signal; the optical digital output (7)
and the coaxial digital output each provide one digital audio signal.
Connect the respective output to the corresponding input, e.g. of an amplifier.
• Connect the round low-voltage plug of the power adapter provided to the corresponding
socket (3) of the audio extractor.
• Place the audio extractor on a stable, horizontal surface. Protect the surfaces of valuable
furniture by using an appropriate underlay to avoid scratches and pressure marks.
• Plug the power adapter into a mains socket, the green power LED (2) lights up.
b) Selecting the audio mode
The audio mode is selected with the sliding switch (4).
Switch position “A”:
In this position, the “HDMI IN” connection of the playback device adapts to the audio capacities
of the device connected to the “HDMI OUT” connection (e.g. a TV or an AV amplifier).
If the TV or AV amplifier only supports 2-channel audio (PCM 2CH), the playback device also
only provides 2-channel audio at the “HDMI IN” connection.
Switch position “B”:
In this position, you must set up the audio format of the playback device manually at the “HDMI
IN” connection (Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, PCM 2CH or AAC).
The device connected to the “HDMI OUT” connection (e.g. a TV or AV amplifier) must support
this audio format; otherwise, sound may not be audible.
