1-9. Updating the Firmware

To update the firmware of the already installed unit that is
connected to a network, the administrator’s IP address,
user name, and password are required. Obtain the informa-
tion from the customer beforehand.
Tools/Equipment

Personal computer (PC)
OS:
Windows 2000/XP
Web browser: Internet Explorer 5.5/6

LAN cable (cross cable)

When using a straight cable, connect the unit to the PC
through a HUB that is not connected to any other
networks.

Version update file (updatefilesYYYYMMDD.tar.gz)

Contact your Sony Sales Office/Service Center to get
the version update file.

“YYYYMMDD” in the version update file describes
YYYY (year)/MM (month)/DD (day).
Preparations
1. Connect the unit and the PC in the power off state
referring to the connection diagram in Section 1-8.
2. Turn ON the power of the unit and PC.
3. Change the network setting of the PC as follows, and
restart the PC.
IP address: 192.168.0.2
Set a value different from the
IP address of the unit.
Set the same value as the
IP address of the unit.
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

The factory default IP address of this unit is
“192.168.0.1”.
4. Copy the version update file to the PC.
5. Start up the web browser on the PC.

Set “No proxy” for the proxy setting of the web
browser.
Initializing Procedure
1. Click on the
[Advanced|Settings]
button in the
status page to display the Advanced Settings window.
2. Click on the
[Start]
button of “Initialize Database”.
The initialize check window is displayed.
3. Click on the
[Start]
button on the initialize check
window.
4. When initializing starts and the following window is
displayed, close the Web browser.
5. When initializing is completed, the unit restarts
automatically.
