Troubleshooting
Here are some simple solutions to problems which may affect the picture and sound.
Problem
Possible remedies
No picture
No picture (screen is dark) and no
sound.
• Check the antenna connection.
• Connect the display unit and media receiver unit to the
AC power outlet, and press the
power switch on the
front of media receiver unit.
• Connect the display unit to the media receiver unit
using the supplied display interface cable.
• If the
(power on/standby) indicator is on, press TV
on the remote control.
The Plasma TV turns off
automatically. (The Plasma TV enters
the standby mode.)
• Check that the Sleep Timer is activated (page 38).
• Check that the On/Off Timer is activated (page 40).
• Check that Auto Shutoff is activated (page 41).
No picture or no menu information
from equipment.
• Check that the optional equipment is on and press the
button repeatedly on the remote control until the
correct input symbol is displayed on the screen.
• Check the connection between the optional equipment
and the Plasma TV.
Poor picture/Unstable picture
Double images or ghosting.
• Check antenna/cable connections.
• Check the antenna location and direction.
Only snow and noise appears on the
screen.
• Check if the antenna is broken or bent.
• Check if the antenna has reached the end of its
serviceable life. (3-5 years in normal use, 1-2 years at the
seaside)
Dotted lines or stripes.
• Keep the Plasma TV away from electrical noise sources
such as cars, motorcycles, or hair-dryers.
No color on color programs.
• Using the menu system, select the “Picture
Adjustment” menu and select “Reset” to return to the
factory settings (page 26).
• If you set the Eco Mode function to “On,” picture colors
may become dimmer (page 31).
Some tiny black points and/or bright
points on the screen.
• The picture of a display unit is composed of pixels. Tiny
black points and/or bright points (pixels) on the screen,
do not indicate a malfunction.
The screen flickers when turning on
the Plasma TV.
• This is inherent in the Plasma Display Panel, and does
not indicate a malfunction.
The picture is too bright.
• Using the menu system, select the “Picture
Adjustment” menu and select “Picture Mode.” Then
select the desired picture mode (page 25).
Picture (stripe) noise.
• Make sure that the antenna is connected using the
supplied coaxial cable.
• Keep the antenna cable away from other connecting
cords.
• Do not use 300-ohm twin lead cables as interference
may occur.
