Before you start
Installing the drive is not difficult, but requires reasonable care.
If you do not have previous experience of installing internal
devices, first carefully read the documentation supplied with
your computer.
The procedure below describes the installation for a typical
computer. There may be variations from model to model in the
procedure for accessing the interior of the computer and the
fixing arrangements for the drive.
Working precautions
Disconnect the computer and any peripherals from the AC
power supply. Disconnect any interface cables from the
computer.
Static electricity may damage electronic components. If
possible, work on a metal bench, and avoid sources of static
electricity such as carpets of artificial fiber.
Before starting an operation, ground yourself on a metal bench
or other metal object, and touch the chassis of the computer to
discharge any static present.
Tool requirements
The only tool you need is a small Phillips screwdriver.
Drive location
The DRV-1000/1000P requires a standard 5-1/4-inch bay. It
must be mounted horizontally, as shown in the figure below.
Installation
