Installation
Attaching a lens or a microscope
Fig.
1
You can mount a C-mount lens (not supplied) to the camera as follows:
1
Turn the lens mount cap and remove it.
2
Screw on the lens.
Note
•
Clean the optical filter with a commercially available blower brush to
remove dust.
•
The C-mount lens should not project more than 7 mm from the lens
mount shoulder.
To mount a microscope
Mount the appropriate microscope adaptor to the camera. An adaptor
can be attached to the camera using the same procedure as that for the
C-mount lens.
Installing the clamp filter
Fig.
2
Install the supplied two clamp filters on the both ends of IEEE 1394
cable as shown in the figure. Make sure that the cable is not caught
between the pawls of the clamp filter.
Connecting the camera cable

3
Connect the camera to the 1394 interface terminal of a computer using
the supplied IEEE 1394 cable.

Adjusting the flange focal length Fig.
5
When using a zoom lens, it may be necessary to adjust the flange focal
length (the distance between the lens mounting plane and the image
plane). Once the flange focal length has been adjusted, readjustment is
not necessary as long as the same lens is mounted on the camera.
You can adjust the flange focal length using a standard head
screwdriver.
1
Open the iris fully.
2
Point the camera at a subject approximately 3 meters (10
feet) away.
3
Set the zoom in the telephoto position.
4
Turn the focus ring to focus on the subject while
observing the monitor screen.
5
Set the zoom in the wide-angle position.
6
Turn the flange focal length adjustment screw on the
camera until the same object is in focus.
Note
Do not turn the focus ring while making this adjustment.
7
Repeat steps 3 to 6 until the subject is in focus both
when the zoom is in the telephoto position and when it is
in the wide-angle position.

Maintenance
Use a soft cloth to clean the casing of the camera. You may use a soft
cloth (soaked in diluted mild detergent) to clean the casing. Do not use
any other chemicals (alcohol, benzene, etc.). They may damage the
finish of the camera.
