Changing the Network preferences
Entering a user name
The User Name setting identifies the name you use when you log into your
Internet Service Provider (ISP) or dial-in server.
1
Tap the User Name field on the Network Preferences
screen.
2
Enter your user name.
Notes
• Although this field can contain multiple lines of text, only two lines appear on-
screen.
• Most dial-in servers do not accept spaces in the user name.
Entering a password
The Password setting identifies the password you use to log into your server or
ISP. Your entry in this field determines whether your CLIÉ handheld prompts
you to enter a password each time you log into your network:
• If you do not enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word
-Prompt-
in this field and asks you to enter a password during the log-in
procedure.
• If you enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word
-Assigned-
in this field and does not prompt you to enter a password during
the log-in procedure.
Note
If you are concerned about security, select the -Prompt- and do not enter a password.
1
Tap the Password field on the Network Preferences
screen.
2
Enter the password you use to log into your server.
3
Tap OK.
The
Password
field changes to display the word
-Assigned-
.
