Dismantling
WARNINGS
High voltages are present inside the WSM6, make sure the WSM6 is switched OFF. Only
trained personnel should carry out any maintenance activity.
High pressure hazard risk when dismantling sub-sea equipment. Only trained personnel
should dismantle this equipment.
Do not stand in direct line with the end of the WSM6 when operating the Pressure Relief
Vent Valve. Sudden release of high pressure gases from the WSM6 could cause injury to
personnel. Wear Personal Protective Equipment such as goggles when operating the
Pressure Relief Vent Valve.
Make sure the work environment is well ventilated. Toxic gases may be released from
the WSM6 when operating the Pressure Relief Vent Valve.
Dismantling of the WSM6 must only be carried out by trained maintenance personnel.
1.
Make sure the WSM6
ON
/
OFF
switch is in the
OFF
position.
2.
Make sure no cables are connected to the WSM6.
3.
Check the Pressure Relief Vent Valve is not proud of the end-cap surface.
4.
Remove the plastic sleeve from the WSM6 housing. If it is necessary – but not recommended
- to cut the sleeve, take great care not to damage the housing.
NOTE
Liquid detergent may be used as a lubricant to assist in removal of the sleeve.
5.
Inspect the end-cap and housing for signs of a gap. This could indicate possible internal
pressure build up.
6.
Screw an M4 bolt into the tapped hole of the Pressure Relief Vent Valve.
WARNING
Do not stand directly inline with the WSM6 connector end-cap when operating the
Pressure Relief Vent Valve. Toxic gases or corrosive liquids may be forcibly expelled due to
serious battery failure.
7.
Standing to the side of the WSM6, carefully pull out the Pressure Relief Vent Valve from the
WSM6.
