BEFORE FIRST USE:
RINSING THE KETTLE
Before first use, the jug has to be rinsed. Proceed as follows:
●
Open the lid of the jug by briefly pushing the lid latch button “OPEN”
inwards.
●
Fill the jug with cold tap water to the MAX marking in the level indicator.
Caution:
The MAX marking in the jug must never be exceeded, otherwise hot
water might squirt out! The maximum capacity is 1,0 litres. Similarly, the MIN
marking (0,25 litres) must never be fallen short of, otherwise the overheat pro-
tection is triggered.
●
If necessary, dry the outside of the jug as well as the jug bottom. Place the filled
jug on the dry appliance base and close the lid.
●
Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet.
●
Press the ON/OFF toggle switch down; the function light illuminates while the
appliance is switched on.
●
Wait for the water to come to a boil. The end of the boiling process is indicated
by the function light going out. Additionally, the ON/OFF toggle switch jumps
back to the starting position. Then, carefully pour the water out through the
spout with the lid closed.
●
Repeat the process twice.
●
Your appliance is now ready for use.

OPERATION
1. Place the appliance base on a stable, dry, even, moisture and heat resistant work
surface out of the reach of children. Also place the power cord in such a way
that the appliance can not be pulled down by it.
2. Take the jug and briefly press the lid latch button “OPEN”
inwards. The lid opens.
3. Fill the jug with cold tap water (please note the MAX and MIN markings in the
jug, fill max. 1,0 litres and min. 0,25 litres), then close the lid by pushing it down
to perfectly close the jug.
Caution:
The lid has to be closed all the time while
boiling.
4. If necessary, dry the outside of the jug as well as the jug bottom. Place the jug
on the dry appliance base.
5. Connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet.
6. Press the ON/OFF toggle switch down, the function light above the switch illu-
minates.
7. Once the water is boiling, the appliance automatically switches off, the toggle
switch jumps back and the function light goes out.
8. Carefully remove the jug from the appliance base and slowly pour the hot water
into a prepared jug, using the spout. For safety reasons, we recommend always
pouring boiling water through the spout without opening the lid.
Caution:
Always be careful not to burn or scald yourself with the hot steam
coming out of the spout!
9. If you do not need any more hot water, pull the power plug, pour the remaining
water out of the kettle and let the appliance cool down.
Tips:
●
Do not tilt the filled kettle too much and never turn it upside down, even when
the lid is firmly shut. Water can escape even when the lid is closed!
●
Always make sure that the lid is closed before switching the appliance on.
●
The cover of the heating element in the jug bottom is made from high quality
stainless steel. Should there form any brown residue, this is not rust but lime-
stone. Please remove it as described in the section “Descaling” on page 41.
