Waterproofi ng Precautions
With External Port Cap and Battery Cover tightly closed, 823P
provides waterproof performance compliant with IPX5 (former JIS
Ingress Protection Code grade 5)*

and IPX7 (former JIS Ingress
Protection Code grade 7)*

*1 IPX5 equivalent: Protection against water projection from water jets
(projecting tap water at room temperature from a 6.3 mm diameter
nozzle at a distance of approximately three meters for over three
minutes at a rate of 12.5 L/min from different directions).
*2 IPX7 equivalent: Protection against water leakage when
submerged under water (still tap water at room temperature
up to one meter deep for approximately 30 minutes).
Note: Waterproof performance of 823P is not guaranteed under
all conditions. Read User Guide for proper handset use.
Make sure that External Port Cap and Battery Cover are tightly
closed before use. If small particles (fine fiber, hair, sand, etc.)
are caught between Battery Cover and handset, water leaks
may occur.
If handset comes into contact with any liquids while External
Port Cap or Battery Cover is open, an electric shock or
malfunction may occur. Turn off handset power and remove
battery.
If handset is wet, do not open External Port Cap or
Battery Cover. Immediately drain water and wipe
handset with clean dry cloth.
Do not immerse handset in any liquids other than
fresh water or tap water at room temperature.
Handset transmission may be disrupted depending on
environment.
Notes on Usage
■
Rain
Talk on handset in moderately heavy rain (rainfall of 20 mm
or less per hour).
Do not use handset in heavy rain (rainfall of 20 mm or more
per hour).
■
Rinsing Handset
Rinse handset in fresh water/tap water (at room temperature), using
gentle back and forth movement; or under gentle running water
(approximately 10 cm from faucet/showerhead at 5 ºC to 35 ºC).
Tightly close Battery Cover and hold down
External Port Cap when rinsing handset.
Do not use brushes, sponges, soaps or
detergents.

Leisure
Do not immerse or drop handset into a swimming
pool/sea. Do not use handset underwater.
If pool/sea water spatters on handset,
immediately rinse with tap water at room
temperature.
■
Bathroom
Do not immerse or drop handset into a bathtub.
Do not use handset underwater.
Do not immerse handset into water containing
soap, detergent or bath agents or hot spring
water. Doing so may deteriorate waterproof
performance.
