What is systolic and diastolic
blood pressure?
When the heart ventricles contract to pump blood
out of the heart, the blood pressure reaches its
maximum value in the cycle, the so-called systolic
value. The blood pressure reaches its lowest value
in the cycle when the heart ventricles relax. This is
the diastolic blood pressure.
