Congratulations on your purchase of the SMC70032AE ADSL Ethernet Modem.
SMC is proud to provide you with a powerful yet simple communication device
for connecting your PC to the Internet.
About the SMC70032AE
Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) broadband technology is ideal for
residential or SOHO environments. Data and voice transmissions can be made
simultaneously (You can surf the web while you call up your friends). Data is
transmitted at a rate of up to 8Mbps over a distance to 18,000 feet (more than 3
miles).
This ADSL Ethernet Modem is intended for home and small business users who
want a simple, affordable ADSL device. It will support Internet connections for
Windows 95/98/98SE/Me/NT/2000/XP, MacOS, Linux, or any other operating
system that supports an Ethernet connection with an IP stack. The modem
provides high-speed Internet access over existing telephone lines, features an
always-on digital connection, and provides a wide range of equipment
interoperability and system compatibility.
The SMC70032AE provides ANSI and G.DMT (full-rate DMT providing up to 8
Mbps downstream and 640 Kbps upstream) as well as G.Lite (economical
protocol allowing up to 1.5 Mbps downstream and 512 Kbps upstream) support,
and is connected to the PC through an Ethernet cable to the PC’s 10 or10/100
Mbps Ethernet NIC or the 10 or 10/100 Mbps Uplink port of an Internet
connection-sharing device (PC with Internet connection-sharing software or
networking device). A wide variety of network stacks are supported on the
protocol processor component of the modem.
Designed to ensure a high-performance Internet connection for the SOHO
environment, this new modem connects to the Web at speeds equal to those
available in your office. Its always-on digital connection saves time by eliminating
dial-up delays. The modem is interoperable with systems from major central
office equipment manufacturers and provides compatibility with various ADSL
services.
The new SMC70032AE ADSL modem allows SOHO users to employ a wide range
of network applications and configurations.
